We are only a week or two away from our first blueberry harvest at the Henry Research farm. Time to get our bird protection out! Last year we had heavy pressure from crows, so much that our yields data for Duke was inaccurate. Bernadine Strik reported the same thing last year at the North Willamette Research and Education Center in Clackamas. So this year, we are covering our earlies with bird net and getting the BirdGard noise control unit out early! The new model is super loud and has species specific, variable speed sound loops to fool the birds (WWW.BirdGard.com).
