One of the groundbreaking areas globally where Fall Creek® blueberries are grown is on the banks of the Kavango River in Namibia at Mashare Berries.
Elsa Muller, one of South Africa’s Grower Support and Sales Representatives, traveled to their farm 50km outside Rundu to see how their plants are performing.
They have some of the oldest plantings of JupiterBlue® ‘FCM12-131,’ AtlasBlue® ‘FCM12-045,’ and BiancaBlue® ‘FCM12-087,’ in Southern Africa with all three of the plants showing good characteristic, promising a balanced offering.
JupiterBlue® ‘FCM12-131’ is currently starting to bloom, making it one of the earliest ripening plants in the Fall Creek® no-chill program.
“The Fall Creek® blueberry plants are showing great potential during the first season and we are looking forward to the new season arriving,” says Izak Grobbelaar of Mashare Berries in Namibia.
