Thank you to Hermanos Pulido and PLUS BERRIES in Huelva, Spain for sharing pictures of their JupiterBlue® ‘FCM12-131’ crop. This is the first year of their plantation in the new variety in which they evaluated a baby crop. The first commercial harvest is expected to take place next season.
JupiterBlue® ‘FCM12-131’ produces early high yields with concentrated ripening when managed in proper evergreen systems in low chill regions such as Iberia, California, Morocco, and Western Cape South Africa. Trials are also underway in more humid regions such as the southeastern U.S. Jupiter behaves an "off-cycle primocane" type when properly managed in Zero Chill, low latitude regions such as Mexico, Peru, and the highlands of northern RSA. The berries are firm, very blue and uniform in size. Fruit can hold on the plant and sugars develop well if given time to mature after turning blue. JupiterBlue® ‘FCM12-131’ is a no-chill variety and is part of the Fall Creek Collection.
